Despite what you just read in the title, the heat will not be leaving us alone the rest of the work week. I know I was hoping for that too. However, there are signs that Mother Nature is changing the weather pattern above us. A dome of upper level high pressure is breaking down...FINALLY! This will take temperatures down a few degrees in the next couple days. Now, you probably won't notice the two degree cool down outside but you will notice more afternoon thunderstorms popping up in the Natural State. Earlier today we saw the ridge make a turn to the east and allow some moisture to spill into SE Arkansas. I suspect we'll see more of that in the coming days and allow a few cities to cool off breifly down the road.
(Weather model showing more PM storms developing Wednesday)
Looking way down the road, I noticed a promising sign next week. Reliable long term models are showing a weak cold front propelling into the state. You read it here first. The timing of the front is still questionable but I'm seeing it occuring sometime late next week (Thu-Fri). Besides feeling high's in the 80's we'll likely have a good batch of widespread showers and thunderstorms.
Cross your fingers on this one. Hopefully we'll get one or two more of these fronts to fight off the incredible heat that will come during the summer months.
