Much of Arkansas is now in severe drought, as indicated in red. Although there have been a few spotty showers around the last couple of days, it has done little in putting any dent in the drought situation. Rain chances will increase somewhat into the weekend, but coverage will be rather scattered. A widespread rainfall is needed in order to begin to bust the drought, which does not seem likely any time soon.
